SES COVES DEL DRAC

Ses Coves del Drac són quatre grans coves situades a l'illa de Mallorca,  a l'arxipèlag Balear, a Mallorca. Es troben al municipi de Manacor, aprop de la localitat de Portocristo. Les coves s'estenen fins a una profunditat de 25 metres i 2'4 quilòmetres de llargària. 

Les quatre coves, denominades "Cova Negra", "Cova Blanca", "Cova de Lluís Salvador" i "Cova dels francesos", estan conectades entre si. Les coves foren  formaren per l'acció de l'entrada de l'aigua del Mar Mediterrani, i alguns experts consideren que la seva formació tingué lloc durant el Miocè.

Al seu interior hi ha un gran llac subterrani, anomenat Llac Martel, d'uns 115 metres de llargària i 30 metres d'amplària. En aquest llac s'ofereixen diàriament concerts de música clàssica en directe. Al final del concert es pot creuar el llac en barca.

 Ses Coves del Drac are four big caves situated in Mallorca, in Balear archipelago, in Spain. They are located in Manacor, near to Portocristo. The caves are 25 metres profudity and 2'4 kilometres longly.

The four caves, called "Cova Negra", "Cova Blanca", "Cova de Lluís Salvador" and "Cova dels francesos", are connected between them. The caves were created by the entrance of the water of the Mediterranium Sea, and some experts think that their creation were in the Miocene.

In the interior there is a big underground lake, called "Llac Martel", it is about 115 metres longly and 30 metres width. In this lake  classic music concerts are offered in direct. At the end of the concerts the lake cab be crossed in boat.

SES FONTS UFANES DE CAMPANET

Ses Fonts Ufanes, situades a la finca de Gabellí Petit al municipi de Campanet, constitueixen el fenomen hidrogeològic més singular de Mallorca. Es tracta d'una font vauclusiana amb surgències intermitents produïdes pel desbordament de l'aqüífer que sorgeix de forma relativament difosa, imprevista i potent després de l'acumulació de les pluges a la zona del Puig Tomir. Aquest caudal d'aigua, que pot arribar fins a 100 m3/segon, va a parar al torrent de Sant Miquel i desemboca a s'Albufera, després d'atravessar la planura de sa Pobla.

Des de l'any 2001, ses Fonts Ufanes són un espai natural protegit amb la categoria de Monument Natural. La finca de Gabellí Petit també destaca pel seu alzinar, un dels més ben conservats de l'illa. Per preservar aquest singular entorn natural, la Conselleria de Medi Ambient del Govern de les Illes Balears va comprar la finca l'any 2005.

Per arribar a les Fonts Ufanes s'ha d'anar fins a l'antiga ermita de San Miquel, situada a les afores de Campanet, i continuar a peu durant uns quinze minuts el camí que condueix fins a la finca.

Ses Fonts Ufanes, are located in the farm of “Gabellí Petit” in Campanet, form the more singular hidrogeologic phenomenon of Mallorca. Is a vauclusian fountain produced by the owerflowing of the aquifer that rises of a relative difuse form , unexpected and powerful after the rain accumulation in the “ Puig Tomir” area. The water, that can arrive until 100 m3/ second, goes to the Sant Miquel torrent and  discharges in s'Albufera, after cross the sa Pobla flat.

since 2001, ses Fonts Ufanes are a protected natural area with the Natural Monument category. The “ Gabellí Petit's” farm also stand out by her oak, one of the best conserved oak in the island. To preserve this singular natural environment, the Illes Balears Ministry of environment bought this farm in 2005.

To arrive until ses Fonts Ufanes we have to go to San Miquel hermitage, located in Campanet out skirts, and continue walking about fifteen minutes by the way that conduce to the farm.

PORTOCOLOM

Portocolom és un nucli costaner que pertany al municipi de Felanitx. Es troba ubicat al sud-est de l'Illa de Mallorca.

Portocolom, conegut pels felanitxers com a "es Port", és el lloc preferit d'estiueig de gran part de la població del municipi.

En els darrers temps s'ha incrementat la població que hi resideix durant tot l'any. Aquest fet ha motivat la creació de distints tipus de serveis per poder abastir les necessitats de la població.

Durant el segle XX fou un port de pesca, un edifici que ho simbolitza és la llotja, però en les darreres dècades el turisme (majoritàriament de sol i platja) ha esdevingut la principal activitat econòmica.

Aquesta zona costanera, Portocolom, és un dels pocs ports naturals de l'illa de Mallorca. Aquesta característica permet que molts vaixells cerquin refugi en aquest indret al llarg de la temporada estiuenca, trencant l'encant de la petita badia d'aquest històric port de mariners que al llarg de molts anys enrere han emprat embarcacions com el típic llaüt mariner elaborat pels mestres d'aixa.

Els atractius turístic més importants de Portocolom són:

• Les platges: Cala Marçal, s'Arenal, s'Algar i es Babo (en ordre de més visitades a menys).
• El passeig a primera línia de mar, farcit de nombrosos establiments de restauració.
• Les belles coves que s'han format en les roques.
• El poblat dels Closos de Can Gaià, de l'Edat del Bronze.

Portocolom is a coast core that belongs to Felanitx. It is located in the south-east of the island of Mallorca.

Portocolom, is knowed by felanitxers to “es Port”, it is the favorite summer place of most people of the Fenlanitx town.

On the last time, the population of Portocolom, who lives all the year in, had increased. For this reason, on this place differents types of services had been created to cover people needs.

During the twenty century was a fishing port, but in the last sigles the turism is the principal economical activity.

This coast place, Portocolom, is one of the few natural ports of island of Mallorca. This characterístic allows a lot of ships to find a refuge in this place during the long summer season, breaking the bay charm of this historic fishing port, whose sailors have used vessels as the tipical “llaüt” made by the “aixa masters” for many years.

The most important turistic places in Portocolom are:

• -The beaches: “Cala Marçal”, “s'Arenal”, “s'Algar” and “es Babo”(in order to the most visited to the less visited one)
• -The esplanade where there are many restauration places.
• -The beautyfull caves forged on the rock.

VALLDEMOSSA

Valldemossa és una vila i municipi de la Serra de Tramuntana de Mallorca, a 17 km de la capital, Palma. Està situat a 436 metres d'altitud i és ric en fonts i està envoltat d'una abundant i frondosa vegetació. Ofereixen un encant especial els seus carrers empinats i estrets.

Es conserven en el poble la casa natal de Santa Catalina Tomàs. Destaca també l'església del segle XIII, molt reformada en el segle XVIII.

La seva principal atracció turística és la Cartoixa i el record que hi deixà l'estada de la parella romàntica integrada per Chopin i George Sand a l'hivern de l'any 1838-39. A més de Chopin, a la Cartoixa hi han passat temporades personatges de la talla de Rubén Darío, Jovellanos o Manuel de Falla, entre altres. Miramar també és un lloc d'especial interès, on Ramon Llull hi fundà l'escola de llengües per convertir infidels.

Valldemossa is a village of Serra de Tramuntana in Mallorca, located at 17km from the capital, Palma. It is located at a height of 436 metres and is rich in fontains and is surrounded by plentiful and leafy vegetation. tis offer a special charm to its streets and roads.

The town conserves Santa Catalina Tomàs's native house. Also stand out the XIII century's church, that was reformed in XVIII century.

Its principal tourist attraction is la Cartoixa, and the memory that the  the romantic couple formed by Chopin and George Sand let there in 1838-1839 winter. Besides Chopin, in la Cartoixa have passed different personages like Ruben Dario, Jovellanos or Manuel de Falla, between others. Miramar is also a special interesting place, where Ramon Llull founded the idiom school to convert unfaithfuls. 

CASTELL DE BELLVER

El Castell de Bellver és un castell d'estil gòtic. Està situat a uns 3km de la ciutat de Palma, a Mallorca. Fou construït a principis del segle XIV per ordre del Rei Jaume II de Mallorca. Es troba damunt un turó de 112 metres sobre el nivell de la mar, en una zona envoltada de bosc.

El més destacat de la seva estructura és la seva forma circular, única a Espanya. Són circulars la muralla i el pati interior. Les tres torres adossades a la muralla i la torre d'homenatge també són circulars, estant aquesta última separada de la resta de l'edifici. El castell està envoltat per un fossat.

També cal dir que al centre del pati interior hi ha un brocal de cisterna que indica que al subsòl hi ha una gran aljub . Totes les dependències es comuniquen amb el pati interior mitjançant una galeria d'arcs gòtics.

Actualment el castell es visitable i s'hi alberga el museu de la ciutat.

“El Castell de Bellver” is a gothic castle. It is located three kilometers from the city of Palma, in Mallorca. It was built in the early of XIV century by order of the King Jaume II from Mallorca. It is a hundred twelve metters above of the sea's level, in an area surrounded by forest.

The highlight of his structure is his circular form, only in Spain. The wall and the backyard are circular too. The three towerhouses and the homage tower are also circulars and the last one is separate of the rest of the building.

We must also say that in the center of the backyard there is a parapet indicating that there is a well underground. All the dependences communicate with the backyard by a galery of gothic arcs.

Now the castle can be visited and in it there is the city museum.

CATEDRAL DE PALMA

 

La Catedral de Mallorca és el principal edifici religiós de l'illa de Mallorca. Consisteix en un temple d'estilo gòtic levantí construit al costat la orilla de la bahía de Palma. En 1931 fue declarada Monumento Histórico-artístico. Además, se trata de la catedral con el mayor rosetón del mundo gótico, es el mayor rosetón original de todas las catedrales góticas europeas, Su construcción se inició en 1229, después de la conquista de la isla por la Corona de Aragón. El rey Jaime I, decidió derribar la antigua gran mezquita de Medina Mayurca para construir un gran templo dedicado a Santa María, debido a que al estallar un fuerte temporal durante la travesía por mar hacia Mallorca para conquistarla, prometió construirle una catedral en veneración si esta les salvaba de la muerte.

The church of Mallorca is the principal religious built of he island. It consists in a Gothic style temple built in the seashore of the Palma's bay. In 1931 it was declared world heritage. Furthermore is the church with the biggest Gothic rose window in the world, is the biggest rose window of all the Gothic European churches. Its building started in 1229, after the conquer of the island by the crown of Aragón. The king Jaume I, decided to knock down the ancient Medina Mayurca mosque to build the big temple dedicated to Santa Maria, owing to a big storm while the voyage to Mallorca to conquer the island, he promised her build a church in veneration if she saved them from death.

Is the third country with most population in the world with 308.000 of habitants and the fourth biggest in the world and is the country with more cultural diversity in the world because of the large-scale immigration and furthermore is the country with the best economy in the world.
