LONDRES

Londres és la capital d'Anglaterra i del Regne Unit i la ciutat més gran d'Europa. Situada a la vora del riu Tamesis és un important assentament humà des de que fou fundada pels romans amb el nom de Londinium fa casi dos mil·lennis. El nucli antic de la ciutat conserva el seu perímetre medieval d'una milla quadrada. Des del segle XIX el nom «Londres» també fa referència a tota la metròpolis desenvolupada al voltant d'aquest nucli.. Aquesta conurbació forma la regió de Londres i l'àrea administrativa del Gran Londres. L'àrea urbana del Gran Londres, amb 8.278.251 habitants, és la segona més gran d'Europa, però la seva àrea metropolitana, amb una població estimada d'entre 12 i14 milions, és la major del continent. 

Londres conta amb quatre enclavaments declarats Patrimoni de la Humanitat: la Torre de Londres, el Real Jardí Botànic de Kew, el Palau i la Abadia de Westminster i l'Esglèsia de Santa Margalida i Greenwich . Altres llocs famosos de la ciutat són el Palau de Buckingam, el London Eye o el Tower Bridge.

London is the capital city of England and United Kingdom and the biggest city in Europe. Located on the Tamesis river border is an important human settlement since it was founded by romans with the name of Londinium two mileniums ago. The old core of the city preserves its medieval perimeter of a square mile. Since XIX century the name “London” also refers to all the metropolis developed around this core. This conurbation forms Londres region and the administrative area. Greater London urban area, with 8.278.251 habitants, is the second biggest in Europe, but its metropolitan area, with a population between 12 and 14 milions, is the biggest of the continent.

In London there are four enclaves declared World Heritatge Site: London Tower, Kew's Royal Botanic Garden, Palace and Church of Westminster and Greenwich. Other famous places in the city are: Buckingam Palace, London Eye and Tower Bridge.
